National Book Festival // D.C.

One lovely fall weekend in September two college girls were found wandering around the Capitol. We explored the Eastern Market, participated in the National Book Festival, got our favorite books signed, ate home-made pop tarts, biked around the city and got lost in the Botanical Gardens. D.C. is one of my favorite cities.. so much to do and not enough time! I'm so glad it's only a quick three hour drive away, because there is so much left to see. :)

Jon Klassen, winner of the 2013 Caldecott medal. We met him and he was SUPER cool.
We writes awesome books about bears and fish who lose their hats.

Day at the Smithsonians

During the beginning of the summer in June, Carolyn & I adventured down to D.C. and Annapolis for a few days. We stayed with her sister right outside the city and it was great! We went to the National Art Gallery, Museum of the American Indian, Museum of Natural History, and the National Portrait Gallery.
National Art Gallery:

Silly Van Gogh used sooo much paint!

Chuck Close is one of my favorite artist. So much detail in his portraits.. plus they're huge!
National Museum of the American Indian:

The architecture is easily the coolest in all the Smithsonian buildings.
Museum of Natural History (butterfly garden):

 National Portrait Gallery:

Annapolis, MD is coming up next.. :)
