Middle Creek WMA is home to thousands of Snow Geese in the month of February when the birds are about mid-way in their migration north. In addition to the geese, there are Tundra Swans and lots of other cool waterfowl that are migrating.
A Northern Shoveler! One for the life list. :)
Tundra Swans & Canadian Geese
To watch thousands of geese take off at once is a really cool sight. They circle around before landing again on the lake or they took off to head to the arctic.
Middle Creek WMA is a great place in Pennsylvania for birdwatching & hiking at any point in the year, I'm sure we'll be back before next February. :)

So cool! I had a similar experience with sandhill cranes...I too love how they circle and swoop in!
ReplyDeleteWHOA! Absolutely beautiful! I love bigger flocks of geese. No formation, no V shape, just a huge group of beautiful birds! :) Amazing photos, Sara!
