Hiking Blue Rocks

Last Saturday, my youth group headed up to Blue Rocks for a hike. It was perfect weather, low 70's with a nice breeze. It was gorgeous!
We started at Blue Rocks campground, which is the narrow gray strip of land in the right middle side of the picture. That's actually a huge rock field, with some boulders bigger than cars! We hiked up around five-hundred feet, it was a hard hike up to Pulpit Rock, where the shot above is from. - But totally worth the view! After we reached Pulpit Rock, we caught up with the Appalachian Trail. We were on that for about three miles before arriving at The Pinnacle.
We stayed up at the Pinnacle for a few hours, exploring a cave underneath and just relaxing viewing God's marvelous creation!
The trail log box, thru-hikers (people hiking the entire 2175 mile trail from Georgia to Maine) record when they reached certain spots on the trail in a book inside this mail box. - At least that's what I've been told!
This is about half of our typical youth group, and well, minus ME because I was busy taking the picture! We're a funny bunch. On the way back down some of our group went the wrong way, fortunately I picked the correct route, so we got to stop and play a mountain version of Dutch Blitz. We watched the sunset after we were back down the mountain from the Blue Rocks campground. It was really a wonderful day of fellowship and fun with friends!
