I'm a big fan of winter, so hiking up the snow is right up my alley. Because it was snowy, we chose a trail we knew well & wasn't too long (two miles), dressed warm, and we hiked back with plenty of time before sunset. It was a great afternoon. The mountains with snow? Almost as good at the autumn leaves. :)
Some areas were packed down from other people hiking, but we had to be careful in the boulder areas because it's hard to tell what is solid ground and what is a hole.
Our typical hiking gear.. tie-dye, goldfish, identification books (we have a PA trees one too), binoculars, & cookies. :)
We wrote stuff in the snow.
Hemlock, the Pennsylvania state tree. :)
Very icey trails/steps.
It was a beautiful day in the mountains. I'm looking forward to more snow hikes next year. :)
